In other words, just because I post something in one place of the Internets does not, necessarily, mean that any of you have any idea that I posted it.
So! It turns out that on October 18th, I'm going to be reading/competing at Dubuque's first annual poetry slam.
On the one hand, I'm just sharing because it's one of the only interesting things to happen since I moved home.
On the other hand, I'm also sharing because I'd love any support people care to show. I've never really talked about my creative writing in our social circle, mostly because I realize literature is not terribly interesting to everyone, and even those that find lit interesting don't always find all types of lit interesting (ie: Some people only care to read fantasy novels, or only like Clancy novels).
Anyway, I don't expect anyone to come, and I won't be hurt if no one does. However, if anyone decides to come down for it, I'm sure arrangements can be made for sleeping quarters (we have a spare bed, a hideabed, a couch, and ample floorspace for air mats and/or sleeping bags). I'd be happy to tour anyone around town who was interested, and otherwise, we could go out drinking that night, either spending prize money in celebration, or drinking to defeat.
So yeah. Open invitation; chances are that if you're reading this and you're near enough to Dubuque to attend, I'd be happy to have you come and to provide you with a place to sleep for the night. Of course, friends are welcome, too, but if they planned to stay with us I'd need to know how many before I could clear it with the folks.
Still no word from Carlisle. Getting itchy about it. Tomorrow will be a full two weeks since the phone interview, and since then I've e-mailed twice and called once.
