Although I'm sure most of you (especially my bride) have no idea what "get smart" was... I thought it was important to note that it's Star (Don Addams) died recently... If you don't know who he was... he was also the voice of inspector gagdet... Two shows which I have fond memories of from my childhood... We have truly lost a great comedic actor... Browsing on-line this morning I have found 2 movies "comming soon" that I feel the need to comment on... Firstly... Aeon Flux... this brought back some good memories of high school... the trailer looks pretty good... looks like they borrow some plot from the TV series... I hope this movie is good, I'd hate to have it DESTROY my happy memories from High School... Secondly The Legend of Zorro... I've been waiting for this a while... I only wish it had come out sooner... movies that came out when I was in high school shouldn't have to wait till I'm out of college over a year to have a sequel come out... tho I have noticed more and more movies are doing that... Meet the Faukers... the Mrs. Clause... etc. etc... |

So I was playing warcraft last night for a while... and I saw 4 infomertials straight... 2 of them made me wish I liven in a communist state so that things like that could never be shown on TV... Firstly there was a guy who was selling a book with natural pest controll stuff... thingsl ike Lavender oil repels fleas and ticks... ok... that's not bad, tho I don't see why it needed it's own infomertial... The second one that didn't make me mad was the "Jack LaLane power Juicer"... this is my second favorite infomertial of all time... nothing wrong there... Now thw two that pissed me off were the get rich quick scheme... and the guy selling a book with "natural cures for all diseases"... First the get rich quick scheme... these always piss me off, tho this one more than most. These schemes always ALWAYS prey on the stupid and desperate... NOw the one that really made me mad was this last one... natural cures to diseases... sounds good... most of these treatments probably do help... but the guy who was pushing it made a few boldfaced lies... he said (and I'm not makign this up) that he was risking being arrested for claiming the scurvy could be cured by eating oranges... his basis for this statement??? One of the FDA definitions for "drug" includes that "anything which can cure a disease is a drug"... firslty scurvey it probably not considered a disease in that case... secondly you don't get arrested for saying things which are common usage, even if they don't fit with dictionary defs or FDA defs... GOD that pissed me off so much... he said so many other things like that... GAH!!!!! |

I had heard previously that Google had their own instant messenger thing... tho I wasn't interested since all the people i've wanted to chat with were on AIM... yesterday night Coie's sister gave me the ultimatum... she said she was only chatting with google.. her reasoning was RETARDED... basically she didn't like the aim client... all the geek friends she has you'd think one of them could show her GAIM or Trillion or somthing... but 'm getting off topic... I am now available... most of the time... on google's Jabber server... connection instructions for anyone with a gmail account and an IM client with Jabber capeabilities here... My username is my gmail address... if you don't have it, ask... if I want you to be able to find me, I'll give it to you... if not I'll give you the address I have all my spam sent to. |

much like Volton from CL.... I am excited about this saturday at 10pm... Naruto is probably the best manga I've ever read (yes better than Inu Yasha... tho I do LOVE that too)... I've seen SOME of the Jap version subbed... and I am REALLY looking forward to seeing it on Cartoon network. My fear is that since it's in with the kiddy cartoons that the translations/voice casting will be aimed at the kiddyies... which would suck... but i am somewhat hopeful... CN has rarely let me down in the past... Which reminds me... at Otakon I saw a japanese version of a fighting game that was based on naruto and really REALLY cool... I hope it get's to america soon after the anime. As much as I think Naruto deserves a post to himself... i've got tother things to say... On Sunday, they'll be showing the escaflone move... I haven't seen that yet and I feel I should... if for no other reason than I liked "Nescaflone" Some of the buzz on the net has me even more excited about Serenity... I had been intending to wait a while after it came out to go see it... but now i"m thinking opening night... or at least that weekend... I am less excited about the DOOM movie than I thought was possible... I don't think they have EVER made a good movie out of a video game... and I really wish they would stop trying... sooner or later they will destroy memories of some of my favorite games (Marathon... Warcraft... Starcraft... Diablo... Fallout... Final Fantasy)... Tho I will allow thet shots in the second trailer that are designed to look like they're someone PLAYING a FPS were worth watching the trailer for.... |

Found this on a randumb LJ... Dairy lesson in political science: DEMOCRATIC You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. Barbara Streisand sings for you. REPUBLICANISM You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So? SOCIALIST You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow. COMMUNIST You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it. It is expensive and sour. CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows. BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain. AMERICAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses. Your stock goes up. FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch and drink wine. Life is good. JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains. Most are at the top of their class at cow school. GERMAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year. ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows but you don't know where they are. While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman. You break for lunch. Life is good. RUSSIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You have some vodka. You count them and learn you have five cows. You have some more vodka. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have. TALIBAN CORPORATION You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which are two. You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature's private parts. You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons. IRAQI CORPORATION You have two cows. They go into hiding. They send radio tapes of their mooing. POLISH CORPORATION You have two bulls. Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them. BELGIAN CORPORATION You have one cow. The cow is schizophrenic. Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish. The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow. The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk. The cow asks permission to be cut in half. The cow dies happy. FLORIDA CORPORATION You have a black cow and a brown cow. Everyone votes for the best looking one. Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one. Some people vote for both. Some people vote for neither. Some people can't figure out how to vote at all. Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best-looking cow. CALIFORNIA CORPORATION You have millions of cows. They make real California cheese. Only five speak English. Most are illegals. Arnold likes the ones with the big udder |

So Otakon was GREAT!!!! I had intended to do a long update detailing all of the interesting activity of the weekend... but I've gotten lazy... so I'll just post some highlings... and later some pics... Someone arranged to be able to propose to his g/f on stage with Piano Squall Performing... I wouldn't care, but one of the coolest things I have ever seen is Squall pounding out the "victory fanfare" after she said "yes"... tho it probably would have been funnier if she said "no"... I saw Joel working on sketches for new epp(s) of House of Fools and I'm excited becxause there's at least a %10 chance that I'll get another update in 2005... The Naruto Fan base is clearly grown from last year... The new "undiscovered" Anime/Manga that everyone seems to have found at the same time is "Bleach" whose fans are in similar number and similar attitude to what Naruto was last year... Yeah... I'll be checking that out. I met 5 guys who were the Voices for... Ranma, InuYasha, Yuske Yurimeshi, Rat-Trap, Dinobot, Silver Bullet, Waspinator, Master Roshi, Ed Elric, Piccolo, Koga, Wolverine, and lots of other voices that don't immeadiately come to mind... They were ALL cool with soooo much excess personality too... ;-) Got Signatures from all of them in one form or another... I'd post said pics, but that would be breaking copyright laws for the artwork which the sigs are on... I may post a pic of the White Page I had them sign with the Otakon pics I plan to post later in the week. Bought a cool set of swords for display in the living room... this was Coie's and mine 1st anneversary gift to eachother... They look so cool... Today We went to the Zoo and another place or two in Indy with Coie's folks... it was a fun day filled with "moments"...

Pat robertson Quotes... out of this article... He's talking about assinating the VENEZUELAN president... In his broadcast, Robertson said: "You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war ... and I don't think any oil shipments will stop." "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said. "We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator," he continued. "It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with." Dumb-ass said all this because he thinks that Venezuela will become a terrorist launching ground just because their leader is "leftist" and is a big Bush criticizer... I keep a decently close eye on political news... I've not seen anything to make me believe that Venezuela would be an area rife with Muslim, anti-US Terrorism... In fact Venezuela is a big trade partner with the U.S. and I think a lot of Americans go "on holiday" in Venezuela. How does he still have a show making statements like this??? Does anyone actually believe this??? on a lighter note... I'm goign to put up a big Vacation update soon, which will ocver all the high points of my vacation.. Might be up in a few parts, but maybe I'll do it all at once... |

It's been a while since I've done a REAL update... so here we go... I promised Coie I'd mention this... The other day I was warcrafting with Coie's sister, and We were going through Shadowfang Keep... I was too high level for that area, so I was basically leader her (and some others) through... then, we added another guy to the group who was about halfway between the level you "should" be at to go there, and my level... he asked of Kathi was a girl in real life because he wanted to know if he'd be rescuing her all the time... she told him that she was a dude who liked sexy unded zombie type chicks. Speaking of Coie... she has good news, tho I'm not going to tell you what... I'm just going to take this opportunity to point out how I DON'T spill her news the way she always seems to No... I don't pull crap like that... I just wanna make it clear that I could, and choose not to cuz I'm a better man than that... I'm just not so good that I won't rub-it-in a little Did anyone else just think of "Shindig"??? On Tuesday at roughly 11:10pm I will leave work... and not go back untill the following Monday... I am sooo ready for vacation... I want it to happen NOW! Chris is a "Poop-hole-pirate"... Arrrrr.... I am soo PUMPED for OTAKON... I get to meed InuYasha, AND Ed Elric... and I get to see MrMadsen again... he's so cool. And Joel... I haven't seen him in person since the last Otakon... But what I think I'm mostly pumped for is women in skimpy anime costumes... Mead is good... just not served the way I expected.. at least not at the irish lion... |

By TOM ALEX REGISTER STAFF WRITER August 9, 2005 If you're going to criticize someone else's driving, make sure you're not breaking any laws yourself. That advice may be coming too late for Jessie Joe Hill. Police said Hill ended up in handcuffs Sunday after he used a flashing yellow light on the dashboard of a stolen pickup truck to pull over a fellow motorist and caution him about his driving. As that was happening, a real police officer rolled up behind Hill at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Day Street and asked him what he thought he was doing. Hill said that the other driver ran a stop sign and that he pulled the driver over to warn him about it. Des Moines police apparently weren't impressed, because they arrested Hill and charged him with impersonating an officer. Hill's problems were just beginning. The 32-year-old Des Moines man was charged with driving on a suspended driver's license - his 11th suspended- or barred-license arrest. Police also charged him with second-degree theft - because the pickup truck with the flashing light was stolen. Edin Beganovic, the man Hill pulled over, was not sure of the motive. "I saw the light flashing," he said. "I thought it might be an undercover cop, so I pulled over. He said, 'Can you slow down?' I said, 'Sure, no problem.' " Beganovic, a truck driver from Des Moines, said officers pulled up and questioned Hill. "Then an officer just took my information and said I could go." Sgt. Todd Dykstra advised motorists to be cautious: "Any time you question whether or not someone is a police officer, you may drive slowly to the closest well-lighted, well-populated area to pull over. We will be glad to send an officer to check it out." |

Last night I got home from closing work... and as I was walking up to my apartment I saw a lump of grey on the grass that I thought was a rabbit in the shadows.... but when it started moving it was clearly a stray cat. This particular little grey fur-ball was a stray I had seen around a few times before, but had never had a chance to grab. This time i could clearly see some tags, including the little blue tag that means it has had it's state-required rabies shots Also it means that at some point the stray had a home and that it wasn't "born in the wild"... and that whoever tagged it in the first place, may want it back. So I set my stuff inside and tried to get him/her... But the cat would have none of that. Using some of Vash's kitty treats I was able to lure it close enough to pet it on two occasions... but he wasn't interested in the petting... just the food... and when I tried to pick it up gently (and later grab it quicky) the cat ran like a mo-fo... To sum up.. the stray is still stray... I have a cut on my and from it's right rear claw... and I'm down about 12 kitty treats... I guess my good deed for the day was feeding it instead of getting it back to it's home... waste of 25 minutes apparently... |
